About Judaica Press Judaica Press was founded in 1963 by Jack Goldman in response to the growing demand for books of scholarship in the English-speaking Jewish world. In addition to undertaking the now ubiquitous Judaica Press Mikraoth Gedoloth Nach (Prophets & Writings) series, Jack immediately went about acquiring the rights to some of the major works of Jewish scholarship at the time: The Blackman Mishnayoth set, the Hirsch Chumash set, and the Jastrow Dictionary. From that solid foundation, Judaica Press has in the past forty years expanded in many new and exciting directions. Outreach We consider it an important priority to reach out to fellow Jews whose background and education have left them without a strong foundation of Jewish knowledge. In recent years, we have partnered with Leviathan Press to produce a wide range of titles to fill these needs. The Judaism in a Nutshell series and Howard Jonas’ new book, I’m Not the BOSS, I Just Work Here represent some of our most recent works in this arena.
For decades, Judaica Press has been publishing quality children’s books to satisfy the thirst of Jewish children around the world. Our books find that delicate balance between teaching important lessons and still being fun and enjoyable. From board books to early readers to compelling mysteries, our focus is always on excellence.
As the society around us gets increasingly more lurid and graphic, religious Jews strive correspondingly to separate themselves from that corruptive environment. Increasingly, Jews seek “kosher” forms of entertainment, and our novels and short story collections fill that very real need. Judaica Press has quickly established itself as a household name in this genre. Jewish Life Jewish law and philosophy are as rich, complex and varied as is life itself. We publish a wide range of titles that address the many stages of Jewish life with clarity and care. We have books that tackle both practical and emotional issues.
Not everyone can study the sacred Jewish texts in their original language. Judaica Press, from its very inception, has striven to provide the keys to understanding the Jewish classical texts for the English-speaking world. The popularity of our work in this arena is an indication that our efforts have not gone unappreciated.
In the early nineties, Judaica Press partnered with Davka, the premier Judaic software company, to produce and distribute high quality software to fill the needs of the Jewish market. DavkaWriter Platinum, the ultimate in Hebrew/English word-processing software, is our flagship software product. What Lies Ahead With G-d’s help, Judaica Press will continue to occupy a position of leadership in the Jewish publishing world. Our strong commitment to excellence, integrity and customer service has earned us a sterling reputation in the Jewish marketplace, and that formula will stand us in good stead as we move forward.
